About New Moon – Gluten Free Bakery Colorado – Homemade Gluten Free Breads

New Moon Bakery and Cafe has been born out of a love for the mountains and a love for good food.  A wide variety of baked goods are lovingly created every day.  People come back time and again for our gluten free breads and macaroons, our homemade crepes and our great coffee.

How it all began…  Monique and Peter met 5 years ago in 2006 in Nederland. Peter – The totally logical German Engineer – had to realize that love at first sight really exists. To make the story short 6 weeks later they were married.  Their love for each other and the mountains had them soon thinking about some life changes.   Monique,  a long time resident of the area with her own massage business and prior coffee shop experience was already an active part of the community.  Peter wanted to become more involved in the community and his job commuting down to Boulder as a Chemical Engineering  for a Pharmaceutical Corporation for 9 years did not allow for that much.

When the opportunity to purchase the New Moon Bakery arose, they saw it as a great way to start something together that would allow them to live and work together in this wonderful community. Peter quit his job and is now busier than ever as manager of New Moon Bakery.

The historic building where the New Moon Bakery and Café is located had a lot of different businesses in the last 100 years; a Bed and Breakfast, hotel, bar, disco, donut shop, bagel shop, restaurant and finally in 2004 a bakery.

Peter and Monique took the bakery over in October 2009, fulfilling their dream of working together and enjoying mountain life every day.

Monique brought her past love of people and coffee shop experience into the business & Peter’s German background & love of food and baking added the rest.
